Privacy for server owners
Some plugins on your server use PluginAnalytics so their developers can improve them. Here is exactly what is sent, and how to turn it off.
What is sent
Once an hour, each plugin that uses it sends one report with:
- A random server id created on your server (in
plugins/PluginAnalytics/config.yml; delete it to get a new one). - Server software and version, Minecraft version, Java version, operating system name, CPU core count, online mode, max players and the average number of players online.
- The plugin's version.
- Counts of things the plugin chose to track, such as "a game started" with a mode.
- The plugin's configuration choices from its config.yml (true/false, numbers and short words like "sqlite"), never texts, lists, or keys that could hold something private such as passwords, hosts, users, URLs, tokens or names.
- The first time a player did something tracked, identified only by a hash of their UUID with a secret salt that never leaves your server. The same player has a different hash on every server.
- Exceptions thrown by the plugin, with player names, IP addresses and UUIDs replaced.
- The plugin's own log lines (what it writes to the console), with the same replacements, merged by message.
- How long the plugin's own event handlers, commands and measured code take, and the server's average tick time.
Our servers derive the country from the connection and do not store your IP address.
Notices and feedback
Plugins may show their developer's update notices and a feedback question to admins. Feedback is only sent when an admin fills in the form or uses the plugin's command, and includes the plugin, Minecraft and server software versions. Set notify-admins: false to hide every notice.
What is never sent
- Player names, UUIDs or IP addresses
- Chat, commands, inventories or world data
- Your server's address or MOTD
Turn it off
Set enabled: false in plugins/PluginAnalytics/config.yml and restart. It applies to every plugin that uses PluginAnalytics.
enabled: false
How long data is kept
Daily data is kept for up to 13 months, or 25 months for plugins on the Pro plan, then deleted. Only the plugin's developers and the people they invite can see it.
Dashboard accounts
When developers sign in with Google, GitHub or Discord we store their account id, display name and avatar to identify them, and a session cookie. Payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see card details.
